About Active Travel
Active Travel Magazine is an independent digital magazine covering Adventure, Outdoors, Eco, Planning and Travel. Trails do not care how good the photograph looks. It is part of VUGA Network, a group of independent digital publications published in the United States.
How We Work
The work appears as guides and explainers, never as dispatches from a sponsored trip. A route write-up carries distance, elevation gain, technical grade, water sources, the months a pass stays open and the huts that must be reserved in January for August. Equipment is judged by what it earns in grams.
What We Cover
Adventure carries the longer and harder objectives: multi-day treks, high passes, sea kayak crossings and via ferrata routes, each with the grade, guide fees and the fitness a route assumes — for travelers picking an objective they will train for rather than book on impulse. Outdoors takes the accessible end: marked day hikes, campsites, paddling routes, cold-water swimming and family-friendly trails, with trailhead access, parking and booking windows listed. Eco sets out the environmental arithmetic — emissions per journey, visitor caps, habitat damage on popular trails, offsetting schemes worth the money — for readers who want the impact quantified before deciding whether a trip is defensible. Planning handles the logistics a trip depends on: permit deadlines and lotteries, insurance clauses covering altitude and helicopter rescue, acclimatization timing and training blocks, arranged as a countdown from departure. Travel News tracks routes closed after storms, revised park fees, quota changes and access disputes, while Business News follows gear brands, guiding companies and the money moving through adventure tourism.
No route runs here without its hazards named, and no wilderness area gets called untouched while the number of flights required to reach it goes unmentioned.
